Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation
At TCI, PHS&T is a set of design and development parameters that we use to assure that a system, sub-system, component, or equipment is compatible with the aircraft, ship, rail, and truck with external lift/internal carry capabilities available to deploy/move systems for strategic or tactical purposes. As well as transportation requirements for electronic equipment including APGs and MGs. Our team is involved with PHS&T planning to meet SEI enclosure requirements and SUBSAFE and KEYMAT handling requirements.

We define packaging, handling, storage, and transportation requirements in accordance with the guidelines detailed in MIL-STD-2073-1D. For spares our staff details requirements for reusable containers for shipment and storage that meet the requirements of ASTM D 3951-95 and ASTM D 4169-94. We also determine the minimum performance requirements for the containers so that they are capable of withstanding repeated openings and closures, repeated handling, and the hazards of shipment, storage, and stowage consistent with the non-operating sheltered environment. Also, for handling we consider the impacts for ESD and safety warnings as needed and marked accordingly, and for configuration control we make provisions for a separate part number for identification, SCD, and provisioning documentation in support of each unique container needed to support spares requirements for future procurement. Per NAVICP requirements we ensure requirements are in place for bar coding and NSN data. At TCI we provide the following PHS&T services:

  • Development of PHS&T requirements in performance specifications and SOW/CDRL packages.
  • Planning is provided for in ILSPs, ULSSs, and LRFSs.
  • Provide transportation and delivery requirements for integration of appropriate provisions within the contract.
