Berkrut Systems

Experience

Berkut Systems has a long history of software development, both for commercial and military applications.

Berkut Systems is the sole developer of a system in use by the United States Army which provides real-time analysis of the mobility of soldiers while in a battlefield environment. This system is used in the decision making process when evolving system are being introduced to the Army, allowing the Army to analytically assess the performance of these new systems, providing Contracting Officers with the tools to select the best of these evolving products.

Berkut Systems has detailed experience with all facets of Submarine Communications, focusing on the integration of the Internet Protocol (IP), replacing legacy serial systems with IP based comms systems. Personnel employed by Berkut Systems currently maintain the database of all IP addresses used by the Submarine Force, and liaison with activities (DOD and Contractor) to acquire the IP addresses for all new construction submarines. Berkut Systems coordinates with the Network Operating Centers to maintain the Domain Names (DNS) for all submarines.

Berkut Systems has extensive experience with database systems using Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, FoxPro, Dbase, and Informix. Berkut Systems has the ability to rapidly develop new systems accessing large scale databases, and in developing custom designed applications to replicate the data between sites.

Berkut Systems has extensive experience in Wide Area Network (WAN) development, having been instrumental in developing the Submarine Wide Area Network (SWAN) – including all routing, documentation, and the Information Security elements of the SWAN.

Berkut Systems has a dedicated software development team uniquely positioned to deliver email to sailors in the submarine service. The current Sailormail system was developed by Berkut Systems, and Berkut Systems remains the only company with expertise in either EMCON sailormail or the software currently supporting the Sailormail System.

Personnel employed by Berkut Systems are experienced in statistical analysis, using computer modeling and simulation to better predict the outcome of various systems. Software development expertise resident in Berkut Systems enables development of customized applications where variables can be changed “on the fly”.

Berkut Systems has experience in Systems Engineering, having assisted in the development, installation, and support of shipboard networks in use in the Navy – in both the Surface Fleets and Submarine fleets.

Berkut Systems has expertise in the management of DOD networks, with a focus on Information Assurance – having recently been involved in the first IA Assessment of one of the Navy’s primary networks for processing message traffic to the submarine fleet.
